π¬This Week on The Wild Path
Wild Rumpus CIC are building out their team with two new openings - Finance and Systems Lead and Producing and Development Lead - at their creative outdoor arts CIC.
Elsewhere, there's a strong marine thread running through this issue: a Senior Investigator at the Blue Marine Foundation taking on harmful fishing practices, a Marine Operative enabling scientific research at sea in Plymouth, and a Freelance Fisheries & Policy Manager coordinating a 27-country global network for manta rays.
Back on land: peatland restoration in the Forest of Bowland, forest craftsmanship in Scotland, and a role caring for water voles, wildcats and white storks on a Devon rewilding project. The Wildcard this week is quietly great - scroll down for it.
You can keep up with us on LinkedIn, Instagram, and find out more about us at teamwildpath.com.

This week we are proud to partner with Inkcap
Inkcap is an online magazine about nature in Britain. I set it up in 2020 to provide a space for in-depth journalism about our landscapes and wildlife β something that, as a freelance journalist, I felt was lacking in mainstream publications.
There are two strands to Inkcapβs content: longform journalism and a weekly newsletter called Ground Cover.
Our longform journalism is somewhat sporadic. We focus on stories that require deep reporting and research. These stories take time to tell, and we donβt rush them for clicks. We cover topics like rewilding, lichen, orchards, wolves, botany and farming β anything that offers a fresh angle or insight into British nature and how we protect it.
Ground Cover is a roundup of the week in nature news. We comb through thousands of articles and handpick the most significant stories, reports, studies and features, distilling them into a brief-ish newsletter that lands every Friday morning. It currently has around 8,000 readers across government, the media, academia, the charity sector, philanthropy, ecology and more. I think itβs fair to say that it has become a staple read in the world of British nature conservation.
Conservation can be a fast-moving field, and it can be difficult to keep up. Inkcap is a way to stay informed with minimal effort. Ground Cover is designed to help conservationists learn from one anotherβs best ideas, point scientists towards relevant new research, and help readers keep track of the governmentβs ever-changing environmental policies.
I hope it provides a useful service β and an interesting one, too. I have been working on the newsletter for six years now, and almost every week I learn something new, whether itβs the role of weather as heritage, the lineage of Northumberlandβs wild goats, or the origins of invasive newts, to name a few recent favourites.
