About Me
I recently left the NHS after over 30 years working in mental health and maternity care. I'm an occupational therapist who spent a lot of my career in senior management roles focused on developing and improving services. My drive and passion for that work arose from my personal experience of developing postpartum psychosis out of the blue when I had my own baby 22 years ago as I noticed what could have been done better in my care to give me more choice and control over my recovery. In recent years I became burnt out with trying to drive change in such a complex political system whilst navigating perimenopause and decided to train as a transformative coach to make a difference in a new way. I now specialise in using nature connected coaching and mindful wellbeing walks to support other women to manage their mental health, running my own business called Mother Nature Coaching.
How did I get into the outdoors?
When I left the NHS and got more time away from the confines of offices and screens I realised how much the outdoors had been missing from my life, and how much that had impacted my wellbeing. As I got outside into nature more regularly I noticed that my perimenopause symptoms improved and I achieved clarity of though and freedom from the mental overwhelm of our chaotic world and my busy mind. This has led me to spend more and more time outdoors, including things that were new to me such as lake swimming, forest bathing and longer hikes.
Favourite adventure or experience?
Swimming in lakes in Bavaria with beautiful mountain views.
One mindset or bit of kit I always take with me?
My awareness of the importance of women looking after their mental health and personal wellbeing across the lifespan.
What am I looking for?
Part time flexible opportunities that use my occupational therapy and coaching skills to support women's mental health using outdoor nature connection. This could be through collaborations, contracts or partnerships for my Mother Nature Coaching Business, green social prescribing opportunities, running workshops for charities or companies, leading group walks or retreats.
